Become a Screen Smart Parent!

FBC Justin desires to help parents be tech-savvy and screen-smart when placing technology in kid’s hands.  We know that this can be an intimidating step in parenting.

Screen Smarts was created by Brian Housman, of 360 Family.  This tool will help encourage and equip you each week in six minutes.  Can you imagine that while you are sitting in the carpool line or waiting for your coffee to brew, you could have watched a video, listened to a podcast, or read an article that will help you navigate video games, social media, texting, streaming, and more?  The typical child now spends between 9-11 hours each DAY plugged into media!!  Screen Smarts is here to give you both the knowledge and the actions to keep these things from controlling your family.

Spiritual Traditions

“Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 CSB

The God given role of a parent is to be the primary disciple-maker of the children entrusted to them. Biblical parenting is a lifestyle, teaching our children the wondrous works of the Lord throughout the day. The Spiritual Traditions listed below are small ways that you can implement intentional biblical conversations in your regular routines in age-appropriate, bite-sized ways.

The Phase Cards on the “More About…” are quick reference guides for parents to know and understand their child better at each age and stage.

Churches interested in bringing a group to the Parenting Conference can email Keirstin Wood for information about a group rate.
