My husband, Bob, and I are both Texans that lived in Oklahoma for 17 years, and moved back to grand ole Texas in 2005. Our oldest daughter, Jeannie, & her husband Nathan live in Keller with four of our eight grandchildren, Makenna, Kynlee, Bryce & Kamryn. Our youngest daughter, Christy, and her husband Chris lives here in Justin with our other four grandchildren, Maegan, Tim, Collin & Carson. Our son Carter is a sophomore and plays football for West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas. And when our nest emptied Bob bought us a beagle puppy named Baxter. What was he possibly thinking? Good thing hes cute.
I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home with my brother by parents who knew the Lord and taught us from the beginning that Jesus loved us and that He had a marvelous plan for our lives. When I was 6 years old I got saved at Vacation Bible School with my friends, but the years ahead were filled with doubt and fear that it wasnt real. When I was 13 years old at Pot O Gold youth camp I was convicted that my earlier experience was nothing more than a social event with my friends, and asked the Lord to be the boss of my life as my grandchildren say. I surrendered MY ways to embrace HIS ways and am forever called a Child of the King.
When we moved back to Texas we promptly joined FBCJustin. Only to learn soon thereafter they were looking for a financial secretary. Having worked at our church in OKC for 17 years in education and administration, this was a perfect fit. The funny part is that my Mom was a church secretary all my life and I spent many summer afternoons in my Moms office with little jobs shed save for me. Although I dont put those years on my resume, I think it is no accident that the Lord cultivated my love for the church in my early years and therefore being able to serve Him in this capacity brings me great joy.
