OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD @ FBCJ
First Baptist Justin is honored to partner with Samaritan’s Purse to help provide “shoeboxes” for Operation Christmas Child! What is “Operation Christmas Child?” Operation Christmas Child (OCC, for short) is a ministry aimed at providing Christmas gifts to children in poverty-stricken area across the world. Many of these children have never received a gift in their entire lives, much less an entire box.
But it’s not just a physical gift we give them, Samaritan’s Purse makes sure every child receiving a shoebox hears about the greatest gift they can ever receive – the gift of Jesus’ sacrificial death and powerful resurrection! OCC is a program that shows these children they are loved by Jesus and His followers around the world.
What’s FBCJ’s goal this year?
We are aiming to collect 400 shoeboxes for OCC! We realize this is an ambitious goal, but we also know that we have generous people!
How can I help?
Glad you asked! You can help in one of three ways:
- PACK YOUR OWN – Take one or multiple empty OCC boxes from our foyer and fill them with gifts for these kids. For a list of what you can and cannot put into the shoeboxes, CLICK HERE. Then bring them back on or before our collection day of Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Be sure to write a note and include a family picture so the children receiving the boxes can know who packed their gift and prayed for them! Please include $6 per box you pack for shipping.
- BRING ITEMS TO US – We are also collecting loose items to pack extra shoeboxes. CLICK HERE for the kinds of items you can bring in to us. Many of them are available at places like “The Dollar Tree” or “Dollar General” -type stores, so you can buy multiple items for a low cost.
- PACK A BOX ONLINE – You can also pick items straight from the OCC website and pack a box online for a child for about $25. CLICK HERE to pack an OCC box online.
- DONATE – Each shoebox costs about $9 for Samaritan’s Purse to ship oversees. FBC Justin has committed to paying $3/box to ship, and we’re asking families to consider donating multiples of the remaining $6 to cover shipping costs. You can also just donate a flat amount to help us purchase any materials/gifts we may need to purchase.
